Learn how to activate the Xfinity Stream Beta apps on LG and Samsung Smart TVs.

Note: Your Xfinity TV and Internet services must be installed prior to using the Xfinity Stream Beta App on LG and Samsung Smart TVs.

Getting Started

You’ll need to create an LG or Samsung account and link it to your compatible Smart TV before downloading the Xfinity Stream Beta app. See detailed instructions on how to create an account and link a device for LG and Samsung.

The Xfinity Stream Beta app is available on the following LG and Samsung Smart TVs:

LG:

  • 2021 TVs
  • 2020 TVs, including support for models with the new software version WebOSTV 5.0
  • 2019 TVs
  • 2018 TVs

The Xfinity Stream app is no longer available on 2017 LG TVs.

Samsung:

  • 2022 TVs.
  • 2021 TVs.
  • 2020 TVs (no minimum software version) All QLED and UHD Models.
  • 2019 TVs (no minimum software version).
  • 2018 TVs with minimum software version T-KTM2AKUC 1131.9.
  • 2018 TVs with minimum software version T-KTM2LAKUC 1131.9.
  • 2018 TVs with minimum software version T-KTSUAKUC.
  • 2018 TVs with minimum software version T-KTSNAKUC 1131.9.

The Xfinity Stream app is no longer available on 2017 Samsung TVs.

Follow these steps to determine your TV model and software version:

LG:

  1. Make sure your LG Smart TV is connected to the internet.
  2. Press the Home button on your remote to bring up the main menu.
  3. Scroll right or left until you reach the LG Content Store.
  4. Select Apps & Games at the top of the page.
  5. Select the Xfinity Stream Beta app.
  6. Click Install.
  7. Once the installation is complete, select Launch to start using the Xfinity Stream Beta app.
  8. When asked, register your device and sign in with your Xfinity credentials.

The model number can be found on the back of your LG Smart TV. You can also find it by pressing the Home button on your remote and selecting Settings (gear icon), then scrolling over to About This TV under General.

Samsung:

  1. Make sure your Samsung Smart TV is connected to the internet.
  2. Press the Smart Hub button on your Smart Control remote to go to the Samsung Home screen.
  3. Scroll to and select the Settings icon (gear to the right).
  4. Arrow down to Support.
  5. Arrow right, then down, then select About this TV.
  6. From here, you’ll see the Model CodeSerial NumberSoftware Version, etc.

Next, follow these steps to add the Xfinity Stream Beta app to your compatible Smart TV:

LG:

  1. Make sure your LG Smart TV is connected to the internet.
  2. Press the Home button on your remote to bring up the main menu.
  3. Scroll right or left until you reach the LG Content Store.
  4. Select Apps & Games at the top of the page.
  5. Select the Xfinity Stream Beta app.
  6. Click Install.
  7. Once the installation is complete, select Launch to start using the Xfinity Stream Beta app.
  8. When asked, register your device and sign in with your Xfinity credentials.
    • Note: The LG Magic Remote cursor and wheel functionality are not currently supported on the Xfinity Stream Beta app. Use the up-down-left-right arrows to navigate, and press the center of the wheel to make selections.

Samsung:

  1. Make sure your Samsung Smart TV is connected to the internet.
  2. Press the Smart Hub button on your Smart Control remote to go to the Samsung Home screen.
  3. Scroll to and select Apps.
  4. Select the Magnifying Glass icon.
  5. Enter Xfinity Stream using the on-screen keyboard and select Done.
  6. Select the Xfinity Stream Beta app and then choose Download.
  7. Once installation is complete, select Open to start using the Xfinity Stream Beta app.
  8. When asked, register your device and sign in with your Xfinity credentials.

Activation

  1. Launch the app from either the LG Content store or Samsung Hub app store. If your Smart TV hasn’t been activated, you’ll see the welcome screen. Select Get Started to continue. If your Smart TV has already been activated, you’ll see the main menu.

  2. The Activation Code screen will appear on your LG or Samsung Smart TV. On another device (like a mobile phone, tablet or laptop — not from your Smart TV), go to xfinity.com/authorize to continue the activation process.

  3. From the web browser on your second device (not the Smart TV), enter the six-digit code provided from the Xfinity Stream Beta app.
    The Activation code field is at the center, and below it is a blue Continue button.
  4. Still from the web browser, enter your Xfinity ID and password. Then, select Sign In.
    Enter your username and password, then click the blue Sign In button.
  5. The web browser will show a Success! message, notifying you that your LG or Samsung Smart TV has been activated and the activation screen on the Xfinity Stream Beta app will update shortly.

  6. After your Smart TV has been successfully activated, you’ll see the Terms of Activation. Scroll to read the terms and select Yes to accept and continue. If you select No Thanks, you’ll be taken back to the first step of the activation process (the welcome screen).

  7. Next, name your device and select Confirm. The device name is used to help with troubleshooting as well as any future device management settings.

  8. You’ll see the main menu. You’re ready to begin using the app!

Note: If you’re experiencing issues activating the Xfinity Stream Beta app on Smart TVs and have two or more linked Xfinity accounts you may receive the following message:

“Welcome! This device can only access Xfinity Stream on your in-home Xfinity WiFi. Use the app on your smartphone, tablet or laptop to watch on the go, any time you like. Error TVAPP-00101.”

To fix this, go to https://customer.xfinity.com/settings/account/linked-accounts. Then, choose the right account you wish to activate your Smart TV from by selecting the Make This Primary option on the address where your Smart TV is.
