How to play Connections
- Find groups of four items that share something in common.
- Select four items and tap ‘Submit’ to check if your guess is correct.
Find the groups without making 4 mistakes!
Category Examples
- FISH: Bass, Flounder, Salmon, Trout
- FIRE ___: Ant, Drill, Island, Opal
Categories will always be more specific than “5-LETTER WORDS,” “NAMES” or “VERBS.”
Each puzzle has exactly one solution. Watch out for words that seem to belong to multiple categories!
Link Your Account on NYTimes.com and Games App
You can link your account between the Games app and NYTimes.com.
Linking your account ensures:
- You will have access to all saved puzzle progress, stats, and streaks if you upgrade to a new phone or change devices.
- You can play across multiple devices. Play from your desktop at home or on your phone and have a complete record of puzzles you’ve solved wherever you go.
Until you connect your account, all your progress is stored locally on your device and will be lost if your account is not connected.
If you subscribed directly to The New York Times, you can link your account by taking the following steps:
- Select the Person Icon in the top right hand side of the screen in the Games app.
- Select Log In.
- Enter the email address and password associated with your subscription and select Log In.
- If you are already logged in, log out and back in to link your account.
If you purchased your subscription via iTunes or Google Play, you will have unlimited access on the device you used to make the purchase. To link your account and activate your subscription benefits on nytimes.com/games or in the Games app on other supported devices, you will need to create a NYTimes.com account.
To do this, take the following steps:
- Log in or create an account on nytimes.com online.
- Select Account in the top right hand corner and select Profile from the dropdown menu.
- Select the third party sign-in option beneath Linked Accounts. You will be asked to log in with that third party.
