To log in to the IRCTC Next Generation e-Ticketing System (NGeT) from the train search page, you should look for the LOGIN button in the header of the website.

Steps to Log In:

  1. Go to the IRCTC webpage: https://www.irctc.co.in/nget/train-search
  2. Look in the upper right-hand corner of the page (or the top navigation bar).
  3. Click the button labeled “LOGIN”.
  4. A popup window will appear where you can enter your IRCTC User ID and Password, and complete the CAPTCHA to sign in.

If you do not have an account, you need to register first by providing details such as User ID, password, full name, mobile number, email, and verifying your mobile and email via OTP. You can then use the same credentials to log in as above.

The login process includes OTP-based verification on every login to ensure security. After login, you can search and book train tickets securely on the platform.

Troubleshoot IRCTC login OTP not received

If you do not receive the IRCTC login OTP, here are common troubleshooting steps:

  1. Try logging in during off-peak hours (early morning before 7 AM or late night after 8 PM) when traffic on the IRCTC servers is lower, as busy times may delay OTP delivery.

  2. Ensure your mobile number and email ID entered are correct and linked to your IRCTC account.

  3. Check if your mobile network has good signal and your device is not blocking SMS or emails from unknown senders.

  4. For email OTP issues, check your spam or junk folder, and ensure your email sync is ON in your phone’s settings. Toggle sync off and on for the email account having issues.

  5. If using Gmail, verify that your inbox is not full and your email client is updating properly to receive new messages.

  6. Retry sending the OTP after waiting for the cooldown time (usually 180 seconds) instead of repeatedly clicking immediately.

  7. Avoid attempting OTP requests repeatedly in peak booking times (8 AM to 11 AM or during major ticket releases) as servers may be overloaded.

  8. If the problem persists, try using a different email address or mobile number if possible. Also clear cache and cookies or try a different browser/device.

  9. Contact IRCTC customer care for unresolved OTP delivery issues.

IRCTC’s OTP system can be slow or temporarily down during high traffic because of server overload or maintenance. Patience and trying at less busy times often resolve the problem.

This advice covers both mobile SMS and email OTP issues related to IRCTC login and account creation.
