Department Information:

From March 1965, the Department of Food and Civil Supplies was established as an independent entity within the State. Prior to this structure, it was a part of the Agriculture, Food, and Cooperation Department.
Weights and Measures was removed from the Department of Industry, Energy, and Labor in December 1977 and united with the department. The department primarily works with the open market and the Public Distribution System’s demand and supply of several important commodities.

The department’s primary job is to enforce different control orders issued under the Essential Commodities Act of 1955 for price stabilisation and weights and measures issues.
