Twitch plans on removing the ability to login with linked Facebook account on April 2nd, 2020.
It is highly recommended that you make sure the email address associated with your Twitch account is up to date before April 2nd, 2020.
The ability to create a new Twitch account linked to your Facebook account or to link your Facebook account to your Twitch account has been removed from the Connections portion of Twitch User Settings for existing Twitch accounts.
Mobile Signup
To sign up for an account on mobile, download the Twitch Mobile App for your device. Once downloaded and installed, launch the app on your device and tap the Sign Up button.
When signing up for an account on mobile you will be able to sign up using your mobile phone number (landline or VOIP phone numbers will not be accepted) or email address. We highly recommend signing up with your phone number and also adding and verifying your email to your account later on. Additionally verifying your email address will:
- Allow us to send you notifications for channels you follow (if you enable notifications).
- Allow for account recovery should you lose access to your phone.
- Allow you to chat in channels that have the verified email chat setting enabled.
Your phone may provide a quick fill option for your phone number during sign up which you can use to quickly enter your phone number. If you wish to use email instead, tap the Use email instead option.
If signing up with your phone number make sure to add your country code. Most phones will automatically add your country code for you however double check or you may not be able to receive text messages from us to confirm your number. Please note that SMS and data rates may apply.
Once you’ve completed the Sign Up form, click the Sign Up button at the bottom. We will then attempt to confirm the phone number or email address you provided by sending a 6 digit code known as a one-time password (OTP) via SMS or email. If you signed up using a phone number, some devices may autofill the code automatically once you receive the SMS. If your phone does not support this you will need to retrieve the 6 digit code from your SMS or email and enter it on the app within 5 minutes.
If you do not receive a text or email within 5 minutes, tap the arrow in the top left to go back and double check the phone number or email address provided is correct and then retry.
Desktop Signup
To sign up for an account, go to https://www.twitch.tv and select the Sign up button on the top-right portion of the page.
This will open the Log In / Sign Up screen. To sign up for a new account on Twitch, fill out the Sign Up form. Choose a username (between 4-25 characters in length), set your password, email and date of birth. Additionally, don’t forget to tell us that you are not a robot!
Twitch have active measures to prevent and takedown accounts created for the purposes of abuse, including the use of hateful, abusive, or threatening terms in usernames. If a username is found to violate our Community Guidelines or the account found to have attempted to circumvent our abuse mitigation measures, Twitch will suspend the account or apply other appropriate penalties to protect our services and community.
Lost access to the email address attached to a Twitch account
If you have lost access to the email listed on your account, please head to our Contact Page. On this page, submit your ticket by selecting Account/Login Issues -> Logging In on the Category -> Sub Category drop-down menus. Please be sure to provide us with the email address listed on your account, as well as the necessary information we ask to help us verify your account details.
Haven’t received the account verification email
Email is a process we’re working on. It’s complicated, and traverses many systems. Occasionally our emails get blocked by email providers even before they go to your spam folders, so you may need to try these steps several times over a few days:
- Head over to your Settings Page.
- Enter a fake email address in the email field.
- Click Save.
- Refresh the page/leave and navigate back to your Settings Page.
- Enter your actual email address in the email field.
- Click Save.
How do I change my email address?
After logging in to your account, you can change your email address and verify on your Settings Page.
How do I know which email address the password reset was sent to?
The password reset email is sent to the verified email address tied to your Twitch account, if you don’t remember which Twitch account is tied to your email address, you can use our Forgot Username flow and enter your email address.
