Candidates who are NOT citizens of India (by birth or naturalized) and/or are OCI/PIO card holders will be treated as foreign nationals.

Foreign national candidates who have studied or are studying ABROAD at 10+2 level or equivalent at the time of registering for JEE (Advanced) 2021, are not required to write JEE (Main) 2021 and may register for JEE (Advanced) 2021 directly subject to fulfilment of other eligibility criteria mentioned below.

Foreign national candidates who have studied or are studying in INDIA at 10+2 level or equivalent are required to write JEE (Main) 2021 and qualify for JEE (Advanced) 2021 under the OPEN category. All eligibility criteria (1 to 5) also apply to such candidates [see Clause 11. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR INDIAN NATIONALS FOR APPEARING FOR JEE (ADVANCED) 2021 of the Information Brochure 2021].

All foreign national candidates will be considered in addition to and not as a part of 2,50,000 Indian national candidates who qualify for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2021.

All the seats allotted to the foreign national candidates will be supernumerary with a cap of 10% of total number of seats in every course. These candidates are outside the ambit of reservation of seats under the GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories/sub-categories as specified in the Information Brochure of JEE (Advanced) 2021.

Identity Proof:

Identity proof of the candidate is required in the form of Citizenship Certificate/Foreign Passport and/or OCI/PIO Card, where applicable.

Registration Fee for JEE (Advanced) 2021

All foreign national candidates desirous of appearing for JEE (Advanced) 2021 have to register online through the JEE (Advanced) 2021 website, https://jeeadv.ac.in. The registration fee for JEE (Advanced) 2021 applicable to foreign national candidates is given in the following table.

Eligibility Criteria for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2021

The eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2021 are given below separately for candidates who have studied or are studying (class XII or equivalent) abroad (Item I), and for those who have studied or are studying
(class XII or equivalent) in India (Item II).

Candidates who are NOT citizens of India (by birth or naturalized) and/or are OCI/PIO card holders and have studied or are studying ABROAD at 10+2 level or equivalent at the time of registering for JEE (Advanced) 2021 must simultaneously fulfil each and every one of the following four criteria (Criterion A to D) to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2021 with no benefit of reservations.

JEE Advanced 2021

Age limit:

Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1996. In countries where a minimum stint in the armed forces (or allied) for a certain period is mandatory before/after Class XII (or equivalent) examination, the candidate will be given a relaxation of required number of years. In such cases, the candidate is required to upload a certificate/testimonial issued by competent authority to this effect at the time of registration.

Criterion B –

Number of attempts: A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years.

Criterion C –

Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination*: A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2020 or 2021 with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates who had appeared in Class XII (or equivalent) examination, for the first time in 2019 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2021.

Criterion D –

Earlier admission at IITs: A candidate should NOT have been admitted to an IIT irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the program OR accepted a seat at an IIT by reporting “online” / at a “reporting centre” through JoSAA in the past. Candidates whose admission to IITs was cancelled (for whatever reason) after joining any IIT are also NOT eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2021.

Candidates must PASS class XII (or equivalent) examination with the following subjects:

 Physics
 Chemistry
 Mathematics
 A language
 Any subject other than the above four

 Testimonials (if required)
