To activate CBC Gem on various devices, login into https //activate.cbc.ca with username and password. Then enter the activation code as shown on TV screen.

To activate CBC Gem, you generally don’t need to go to activate.cbc.ca.

Here’s how to activate your CBC Gem account:

1. Create a CBC Account: If you don’t have one already, you’ll need to create a free CBC account. You can do this on the CBC Gem website or app.

2. Sign In to CBC Gem: Once you have a CBC account, sign in to CBC Gem using your credentials.

3. Link Your Device (if necessary): Some devices might require linking to your CBC Gem account. Follow the on-screen instructions for this step.

CBC Gem is available for free as an App for iPhone and iPad, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, Samsung TV (select models), LG TV (select models), and Android phones and tablets.

Gem is also accessible online via desktop web browser at gem.cbc.ca

If you wish to access Gem on your television, this can be achieved a few ways.

How can I watch Gem on my TV?

CBC Gem is available for free as an App for Roku, Samsung Smart TV (select models), LG Smart TV (select models), Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, Xbox, iPhone and iPad, and Android phones and tablets.

Gem is also accessible online via desktop web browser at gem.cbc.ca

Connected Devices

You can access Gem on your television by using one of the following supported devices. These devices can be connected to an HDMI port on your television.

Chromecast

If you have a supported Google Chromecast, you can stream our content from the CBC Gem app on a mobile device (Android or iOS), or the Chrome web browser on a PC (WIN/MAC).

Get Gem for Google TV

  • Open the Google Play Store app on your Google TV
  • Select the search icon, the magnifying glass found in the top-right corner of the screen
  • Enter “CBC Gem” in the search bar and then select the magnifying glass found in the bottom right corner of the on-screen keyboard.
  • Select “Install”

Fire TV Stick

The CBC Gem app is available for download on the Fire TV Stick

Get Gem for Fire TV

  • From the Fire TV home screen, select “appstore”.
  • Select “Search”.
  • Using the on-screen keyboard, enter “CBC Gem”.
  • Select “CBC Gem” when it appears below the on-screen keyboard.
  • Select the CBC Gem icon.
  • Select “Get”.

NVIDIA Shield

The CBC Gem app is available for download on the NVIDIA Shield. You can find the app in the Play Store on your device.

Get Gem for NVIDIA Shield

  • Open the Google Play Store app on your NVIDIA Shield.
  • Select the search icon, the magnifying glass found in the top-right corner of the screen.
  • Enter “CBC Gem” in the search bar and then select the magnifying glass found in the bottom right corner of the on-screen keyboard.
  • Select “Install”.

Apple TV

The CBC Gem app is available on newer Apple TVs which have the App Store installed. The App Store is not available on older Apple TVs with the silver remote. Apple’s AirPlay function can also be used to stream content from an iOS device to the Apple TV.

Get Gem for Apple TV

  • From the home screen on your Apple TV, select the App Store icon.
  • Select the search icon, the magnifying glass found in the top-right corner of the screen.
  • Enter “CBC Gem” in the search bar.
  • Select the CBC Gem icon.
  • Select the download icon, the cloud with a downward-facing arrow.

Roku

The CBC Gem app is now available for download on Roku.

Get Gem for Roku

  • From the Roku home screen, use the scroll menu on the left of the screen to find and select “Search”.
  • Enter “CBC Gem” in the search bar. Select the CBC Gem icon.
  • Select “Add app”.
  • Select “I agree”.

Xbox

The CBC Gem app is available for download on Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles. You can find the app in the Microsoft Store on your Xbox device.

Get Gem for Xbox

  • From the Xbox home screen, select the “Store” icon found at the top of the screen.
  • Select “SEARCH” found in the bottom left of the screen.
  • Enter “CBC Gem” in the search bar.
  • Select the CBC Gem icon.
  • Select “GET”.

Smart TVs

The CBC Gem app is supported on Smart TVs running version 6 or higher of the Android TV operating system, Fire TV-enabled Smart TVs, Samsung Smart Tvs from 2020 to present running Tizen OS 6.0 or higher, and LG Smart TVs from 2020 to present running webOS 3 or higher.

Samsung Smart TVs

We are pleased to announce that the Gem app is now available on all modern Samsung Smart TVs. This includes all models from 2020 to present, running Tizen OS 6.0 and above.

You can find CBC Gem in the APPS application on your Samsung Smart TV.

Some newer Samsung Smart TV models from 2018 – present, now support Apple AirPlay 2. This means you should be able to stream content from our iPhone or iPad app directly to your television.

Get Gem for Samsung TV

  • From the Samsung Smart TV Home screen, select “APPS”.
  • Select the search icon, the magnifying glass found in the top-right corner of the screen (magnifying glass).
  • Enter “CBC Gem” in the search bar and then select the blue magnifying glass found at the bottom of the on-screen keyboard.
  • Select the CBC Gem icon.
  • Select “Install”.

LG Smart TVs

We are pleased to announce that the Gem app is now available on all modern LG Smart TVs. This includes all models from 2020 to present, running webOS 3 and above.

You can find the app in the LG Content Store on your LG Smart TV.  Some newer LG Smart TV models from 2018 – present, now support Apple AirPlay 2. This means you should be able to stream content from our iPhone or iPad app directly to your television.

  • Select “APPS” from the Home menu options found at the bottom of the screen.
  • Select the search icon, the magnifying glass found in the top-right corner of the screen.
  • Enter “CBC Gem” in the search bar and select “Search”.
  • Select the CBC Gem icon.
  • Select “Install”.

Fire TV enabled Smart TVs

The CBC Gem app for Fire TV is available on all Fire TV-enabled Smart TVs. You can find the app in the Fire TV app store on your Smart TV.

Get Gem for Fire TV

  • From the Fire TV home screen, select “appstore”.
  • Select “Search”.
  • Using the on-screen keyboard, enter “CBC Gem”.
  • Select “CBC Gem” when it appears below the on-screen keyboard.
  • Select the CBC Gem icon.
  • Select “Get”.

Android TV enabled Smart TVs

The CBC Gem app for Android TV is available on all Android TV-enabled Smart TVs. You can find the app in the Play Store on your Smart TV.
