You can easily share a boarding pass from your Apple Wallet with other iPhone users. There are a couple of methods you can use, depending on your situation.
Important Note: The ability to share a boarding pass or ticket is controlled by the company that issued it (e.g., the airline or event venue). If you do not see the share icon, the pass is not shareable.
Method 1: Sharing with the Share Icon
This is the most common method for sharing a pass from your Wallet.
- Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
- Tap the boarding pass you want to share.
- Tap the three-dot menu icon () or the Share icon (a box with an arrow pointing up). This is typically located in the top or bottom corner of the pass details screen.
- Choose a sharing method from the options that appear, such as:
- Messages
- AirDrop
When the recipient receives the shared pass, they can tap on it and follow the on-screen prompts to add it to their own Apple Wallet.
Method 2: Sharing with Nearby iPhones (Contactless)
This method is quick and easy if the person you’re sharing with is standing right next to you.
- Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
- Tap the boarding pass you want to share.
- Hold your iPhone a few centimeters from the top of the other person’s iPhone.
- A glowing effect will appear on both screens, indicating a connection is being made.
- Hold the devices near each other until the pass appears on the other person’s screen.
- Tap “Share” to complete the transfer.
Once the pass is shared, the recipient can add it to their Wallet and use it on their own iPhone or Apple Watch.

Other Methods
✈️ 1. Best Way: Share via Airline App or Email/SMS
Go to the airline app (e.g., Delta, United, American Airlines).
Find the boarding pass for your flight.
Use the app’s share option to send it via text, email, or AirDrop.
The recipient can then add it to their own Apple Wallet.
✅ This is the most reliable method — Apple Wallet itself doesn’t allow native sharing.
📱 2. Send a Screenshot (for info only)
Open the boarding pass in Apple Wallet.
Take a screenshot.
Send it via text or email.
❌ Note: This screenshot can’t be scanned at the gate, but it may be useful if someone needs your seat number, gate, or flight details.
🛬 3. Using AirDrop (if app allows)
Some airline apps may let you AirDrop the pass to another iPhone user before it’s added to Wallet. Once it’s in Wallet, it can’t be AirDropped anymore.
🔒 Why Can’t You Share Directly from Apple Wallet?
Apple Wallet items like boarding passes are often tied to:
Your personal details
A unique barcode/QR code
Airline-specific backend systems
For security and fraud prevention, they don’t allow sharing once the pass is added to Wallet.
