How to Manually Update Minecraft : iOS/Android, Xbox One, PlayStation 4

To play the newest content in Minecraft, your game needs to be updated to the most recent version. This should happen automatically while your device is in standby mode or in use while connected to an active Internet connection. However, if you need to manually update your game, you’ll find the instructions for your Minecraft version listed below.

How do I find my current version number?

Find the version number on the bottom right of the Minecraft home screen.

Minecraft: Java Edition (PC/Mac)

Open the Minecraft launcher. The launcher should automatically show you the latest release. If not, click the arrow to the right of the Play button and select Latest Release.

Don’t see the launcher? Download it.

iOS/Android

Open App Store or Google Play on your device and search for “Minecraft”. If you own Minecraft already you should be prompted to update Minecraft if it isn’t already updated. If you have the latest version installed press Open and play.

PlayStation® 4

Minecraft for PS4™ should update automatically. If updates are not set to automatic on your PS4™, find the game and select the Options button and then select Check for Updates.

Windows (Bedrock)

Minecraft for Windows should update to the latest version automatically. If it doesn’t update, open the Microsoft Store, click the three dots in the top right corner and then click Downloads and updates.
