How To Change Screen Time Passcode – iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
To change your Screen Time passcode on an iPhone or iPad, Look for the gray gear icon on your home screen. You’ll find this option near the top of the Settings menu.
Follow these steps to Change Screen:
- Open the Settings app: Look for the gray gear icon on your home screen.
- Tap Screen Time: You’ll find this option near the top of the Settings menu.
- Tap Change Screen Time Passcode: This will be located towards the top of the Screen Time menu.
- Tap Change Screen Time Passcode again: You’ll be asked to confirm your choice.
- Authenticate: You’ll need to enter the Apple ID email address and password that you used to set up the Screen Time passcode. If you’ve forgotten your Apple ID password, you can reset it on Apple’s website.
- Enter a new Screen Time passcode: Choose a new 4-digit passcode.
- Enter it again to confirm: This ensures you’ve entered the new passcode correctly.
That’s it! You’ve successfully changed your Screen Time passcode.
Important Notes:
• If you’re a parent changing a child’s Screen Time passcode: You’ll need to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode instead of your Apple ID.
• If you’ve forgotten your Screen Time passcode: You can reset it by tapping “Forgot Passcode” and following the on-screen instructions. This will require your Apple ID email and password.
• For Android devices: The process may vary slightly depending on your device and Android version. Generally, you’ll need to open the Family Link app or your device’s settings, go to the Digital Wellbeing or Parental Controls section, and look for the option to change the Screen Time passcode.

Reset the Screen Time passcode for your personal device
Use the steps below to change your Screen Time passcode on iPhone or iPad.
On your iPhone or iPad
Open the Settings app, then tap Screen Time.
Tap Change Screen Time Passcode, then tap Change Screen Time Passcode again.
Enter the Apple Account email address and password that you used to set up the Screen Time passcode.
Enter a new Screen Time passcode, then enter it again to confirm.
If you have Share Across Devices turned on, your new Screen Time passcode will automatically update on those devices after you’ve reset it.
Reset the Screen Time passcode for your child’s device
If you’re using Family Sharing to manage a child’s account, the family organiser needs to reset the passcode on their device.
On an iPhone or iPad
On the family organiser’s device, open the Settings app, then tap Screen Time.
Scroll down and choose a child’s name under Family.
Tap Change Screen Time Passcode, then tap Change Screen Time Passcode again. Then authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode.
Enter a new Screen Time passcode, then enter it again to confirm.
If you have Share Across Devices turned on, your new Screen Time passcode will automatically update on those devices after you’ve reset it.
If you can’t reset your Screen Time passcode
If you can’t reset your Screen Time passcode, make sure that you’re using the same Apple Account email address and password that you used when setting up the Screen Time passcode. This might be a different Apple Account than the one that you’re signed in to on your device. If you’re part of a Family Sharing group, it might be a family member’s Apple Account or your child’s Apple Account.
