To activate your Green Dot card, you have three main options. Go to GreenDot.com/activate or Call 1-866-795-7605 or Download the Green Dot – Mobile Banking app.
The process differs slightly depending on whether you bought the card at a store or received it in the mail.
Option 1: Activate Online (Fastest)
This works for both store-bought and mail-order cards.
Go to GreenDot.com/activate.
Enter your 16-digit card number, expiration date, and CVV (the 3-digit code on the back).
If you bought the card at a store, you will be asked to “Register” it by entering your Social Security Number (SSN), Date of Birth, and Address.
Note: This is required by federal law to verify your identity and unlock the card’s full features.
Option 2: Activate by Phone
Use the number below that matches how you got your card:
If you bought the card at a store: Call 1-866-795-7605
If you applied online and received it in the mail: Call 1-866-963-6356
Option 3: Activate via App
Download the Green Dot – Mobile Banking app (iOS or Android).
Open the app and select “Register / Activate New Card.”
Follow the camera prompts to scan your card or enter the details manually.

What You Will Need
Before you start, ensure you have the following ready:
The card itself (for the 16-digit number and CVV).
Your Social Security Number (SSN).
Your Date of Birth.
Your mobile phone (they may send a verification text).
