If your myGMC app is not working (crashing, failing to sign in, or not updating vehicle status), it is a widespread issue recently (November 2025) affecting many GM vehicle apps.
Here is the step-by-step guide to fixing it, starting with the most effective solution.
1. The “Clean Reinstall” (Fixes Login & Crashing)
Simply deleting the app is often not enough because “bad” data stays hidden on your phone. You need to clear the storage first.
For Android Users:
Go to Settings > Apps > myGMC.
Tap Storage.
Tap Clear Data (or Clear Storage) AND Clear Cache.
Uninstall the app.
Restart your phone.
Reinstall from the Google Play Store and log in.
For iPhone (iOS) Users:
Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
Scroll down to find myGMC.
Tap Delete App (Do not choose “Offload App”—you must delete it to remove the corrupted data).
Restart your iPhone.
Reinstall from the App Store.

2. The “Vehicle Power Cycle” (Fixes Remote Start/Status)
If the app opens but Remote Start fails or tire pressure/fuel won’t update, the issue is likely the car’s connection to OnStar, not your phone.
Follow this exact sequence to reset the car’s modem:
Start the car and let it run for about 60 seconds in an open area (to catch a signal).
Turn the car off.
Open the driver’s door and exit the vehicle.
Close the door and Lock the car with your key fob.
Walk away (at least 15–20 feet) with the key fob.
WAIT for 5 minutes.
Why? You must wait for the car’s computer to go into “sleep mode.” Watch for the dashboard lights (or OnStar light) to go completely dark.
Try the app again. The status should now refresh.
3. Check for Pending “Terms of Service”
Sometimes the app locks you out because GM updated their legal terms and you haven’t clicked “Agree” yet.
Log in to the GMC Owner Center on a web browser (Chrome/Safari).
If a pop-up appears asking you to accept new terms, click Accept.
Re-open the app; it should now let you in.
4. Still Broken? Contact OnStar Directly
If you have done the above and it still fails, your OnStar account link might need a reset on their end.
Call OnStar/GMC Support: 1-888-466-7827
Tip: Press the blue OnStar button in your truck/SUV. If it does not connect to an advisor, your vehicle’s hardware might need service at the dealership.
