As of April 2025, Ford has issued multiple recalls for the 2025 Ford Explorer in Canada. Here’s a summary of the key recalls and their implications:​


1. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Software Reset

  • Issue: The PCM may reset while driving, potentially causing the vehicle to stall or lose acceleration. In some cases, the parking pawl could engage improperly, risking damage to the park system and increasing the chance of the vehicle rolling away if the electronic parking brake isn’t applied.

  • Affected Vehicles: Approximately 24,655 units built at the Chicago Assembly Plant between December 6, 2024, and September 6, 2024 .​

  • Remedy: Ford will notify owners starting May 26, 2025. Dealers will update the PCM software free of charge.


2. Brake Master Cylinder Leak

  • Issue: In certain vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine, brake fluid may leak from the master cylinder into the brake booster, leading to reduced braking performance.

  • Safety Risk: Reduced braking can increase stopping distances, elevating the risk of a crash.
