The December 2025 Update (Patch 1.42 / 1.000.007) was released yesterday, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, to coincide with the premiere of Fallout Season 2.
Here are the patch notes and the key details regarding the status of the console storage update.
The “Bad” News First
Mod Storage Expansion Delayed: Bethesda confirmed that the highly anticipated increase to 100GB of Mod Storage for consoles has been delayed to early 2026. It was originally targeted for this update but requires more testing.
Current Limit: Consoles are still capped at the standard 2GB limit for now.
Patch Notes (Update 1.42) – Dec 16, 2025
This update primarily focuses on fixing the bugs introduced by the “Anniversary Edition” update from last month.
Creations (Mods) & Content Fixes
Missing Bundles: Fixed an issue where the “Creations Bundle” add-on was missing or not registering on Steam.
Load Order: Fixed a bug where the game failed to recognize Creation Club content when loading saves from older builds.
Deletions: You can now individually delete Creations that have been removed from the storefront directly from your Load Order menu.
Crash Fixes: Resolved crashes that occurred when downloading “All Creations,” reloading data files, or idling in the Creations menu (specifically on PS5).
UI & User Experience
Missing Buttons: Fixed missing button prompts and empty titles in the “My Library” section.
Overlapping Text: Addressed issues where category lists and description boxes would overlap or become unreadable.
Steam Deck / ROG Ally: Fixed specific UI alignment issues and button prompts for handheld users.
Ultrawide: Workshop menus and “Reset” screens are now correctly optimized for Ultrawide and Super Ultrawide monitors.
Stability
“Hang on Quit”: Fixed a common issue where the game would freeze or hang indefinitely when trying to exit to the desktop.
Store Crashes: Fixed rare crashes that happened immediately after purchasing Credits or scrolling too fast in the purchase menu.

What This Means For You
If you are on Console: This update is purely for stability. Do not try to install large mod lists yet, as the space increase hasn’t happened.
If you are on PC: The “Hang on Quit” fix is the most significant change, as it removes the need for the community fix mod that many players were using.
