What are Patta and Chitta?
- Patta: A legal document that proves ownership of land in Tamil Nadu. It includes details like the owner’s name, survey number, land area, and type of land.
- Chitta: A document that classifies the land, indicating whether it’s “Natham” (residential), wetland, or dryland. It also includes land area, survey number, and ownership information.
In 2015, the Tamil Nadu government merged Patta and Chitta into a single document for easier land record management.
