Error Code Drowned Minecraft Bedrock | Fixes for Error Code

The “Error Code: Drowned” in Minecraft Bedrock Edition usually appears when you’re signed out of your Microsoft account or there’s a problem connecting to Xbox Live / Minecraft services.

It prevents you from joining servers, Realms, or syncing worlds.

Here’s how to fix it 👇

🧭 What “Error Code: Drowned” Means

“We couldn’t sign you in to your Microsoft account. Try again later. (Error Code: Drowned)”

This happens when:

  • Minecraft can’t connect to Xbox Live servers.

  • Your login session is corrupted.

  • Your internet or device settings block the connection.

  • The Microsoft authentication service is temporarily down.

🛠️ Fixes for Error Code: Drowned (Minecraft Bedrock)

1. Restart the Game and Device

  • Fully close Minecraft (don’t just minimize it).

  • Restart your console, PC, or mobile device.

  • Relaunch the game and try signing in again.

This clears temporary connection or session issues.

2. Check Xbox / Microsoft Server Status

Sometimes it’s not your fault — Xbox or Mojang servers might be down.

If the servers are down, you’ll have to wait until they’re restored.

3. Sign Out and Back In

Corrupted login tokens are a common cause.

Steps:

  1. Go to Settings → Profile in Minecraft.

  2. Select Sign Out of Microsoft Account.

  3. Restart the game.

  4. Log back in using your Microsoft credentials.

If it doesn’t work, try signing in on a different device to verify your credentials.

4. Clear Saved Account Data (Console or PC)

If your stored authentication data is corrupted, clearing it can fix the issue.

Xbox / Console:

  • Go to Settings → Account → Remove Accounts.

  • Remove your Microsoft account from the console.

  • Restart and re-add it, then reopen Minecraft.

Windows (Bedrock for PC):

  1. Press Win + R → type:

    %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
  2. Delete the account or minecraftpe folder (if it exists).

  3. Restart Minecraft and sign in again.

5. Check Internet Connection

A weak or restricted network (school/work Wi-Fi, VPNs, etc.) can cause this.

Try:

  • Restarting your router.

  • Using a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi.

  • Turning off any VPN, proxy, or firewall software temporarily.

6. Update Minecraft

Old versions can’t connect properly to Microsoft servers.

  • Go to your app store or launcher and check for updates.

  • Install any available patch.

  • Relaunch the game and sign in again.

7. Reinstall Minecraft (Last Resort)

If the error persists even after updates and resets:

  1. Back up your worlds (Settings → Storage → Export).

  2. Uninstall Minecraft completely.

  3. Reinstall from the Microsoft Store or your console’s store.

  4. Sign back in.

⚙️ Extra Tips

  • Use the same Microsoft account on all devices.

  • Make sure date and time are correct on your device (wrong system time can cause authentication errors).

  • Avoid using beta versions unless you’re testing them intentionally — “Drowned” errors appear more often on betas.
