EFT Client And Server Location Mismatch | Easy Fix

The “Client and Server Location Mismatch” error in Escape From Tarkov (EFT) happens when the game client region you’re using doesn’t match the server region your account or launcher is set to.

This is a very common issue after updates, VPN use, or moving between regions.

Here’s how to fix it:

How to Fix “Client / Server Location Mismatch” in EFT

1. Change Your Game Region in the Launcher

This is the most common fix.

  1. Open the Battlestate Games Launcher

  2. Click Settings

  3. Find Game Directory Location → Region

  4. Set it to the region that matches your account (usually where you bought the game)

    • Common regions: USA, EU, RU, Asia

  5. Save → Restart launcher → Try launching EFT again

2. Turn Off Your VPN (or Switch Servers)

Using a VPN can make EFT think you’re in a different region.

  • Disable your VPN entirely

  • OR switch to a server in your actual physical region

  • Restart the launcher afterward

3. Delete the EFT Game Cache

Corrupted cache can cause region mismatches.

  1. Open the EFT Launcher

  2. Click Settings

  3. Click Clear Cache

  4. Restart the launcher and try again

4. Make Sure Your Windows Region Matches

EFT sometimes uses your system region as part of region validation.

  • Windows Settings → Time & LanguageRegion

  • Set your Country/Region to where you actually are

  • Restart your PC

5. Verify Your Game Version

If your client version does not match the live patch in your region, you will get this error.

  • Click Check for Updates

  • If nothing appears, click Repair inside the EFT launcher

6. Reinstall the Launcher (if nothing else works)

Sometimes the launcher has broken region settings.

  • Uninstall the Battlestate Launcher

  • Download a fresh copy

  • Log in again

  • Re-select your region

⚠️ Why the Error Happens

  • Using a VPN

  • Downloading EFT from a mirror with the wrong region

  • Launcher region doesn’t match your account region

  • Server restrictions during big updates

  • Corrupted cache or settings
