Easy Anti Cheat Not Installed | How to Fix this Error

If you’re seeing the error “Easy Anti-Cheat not installed” when trying to launch a game (like Ready or Not, ARK, Fortnite, etc.), it usually means the game can’t find or start Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), which is required for online play.


🛠️ How to Fix “Easy Anti-Cheat Not Installed”

Option 1: Repair or Install Easy Anti-Cheat Manually

  1. Go to the EAC install folder for your game:

    \[Your Game Folder]\EasyAntiCheat\

    Example for Steam:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ready Or Not\EasyAntiCheat\
  2. Run the installer:

    • Double-click EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe

    • Select your game from the dropdown

    • Click “Install” or “Repair Service”

  3. Reboot your system after repair.


Option 2: Verify Game Files

For Steam:

  1. Open Steam

  2. Right-click the game → Properties

  3. Go to Installed Files → Click “Verify integrity of game files”

For Epic Games:

  1. Go to your Library

  2. Click the three dots on your game → Manage

  3. Click “Verify”

Option 3: Reinstall Easy Anti-Cheat Completely

If repair doesn’t work:

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator

  2. Type the following:

    sc delete EasyAntiCheat
  3. Then re-run the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe from your game folder and click Install.


Option 4: Run the Game as Administrator

Sometimes EAC fails due to lack of permissions:

  • Right-click your game’s launcher (or Game.exe) → Run as Administrator


Option 5: Update Windows & Drivers

Make sure:

  • Windows is up to date

  • Your GPU drivers are current

  • Antivirus/firewall is not blocking EAC (add EAC and the game folder as exceptions).

🛠️ Fix “Easy Anti-Cheat Not Installed” – Fortnite (PC)

✅ 1. Repair or Install Easy Anti-Cheat Manually

  1. Navigate to the Fortnite EAC folder:

    C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Fortnite\FortniteGame\Binaries\Win64\EasyAntiCheat
  2. Double-click:

    EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe
  3. In the window:

    • Select Fortnite from the dropdown

    • Click Install or Repair Service

  4. Once complete, try launching Fortnite again.


✅ 2. Verify Fortnite Game Files

  1. Open Epic Games Launcher

  2. Go to Library

  3. Click the three dots next to Fortnite → Click Manage

  4. Click Verify to repair the game installation

This also fixes missing or corrupted EAC files.


✅ 3. Run as Administrator

  • Right-click on FortniteLauncher.exe or EpicGamesLauncher.exe

  • Choose “Run as Administrator”

Also, make sure Windows isn’t blocking EAC due to permissions.


✅ 4. Temporarily Disable Antivirus or Add Exception

Some antivirus programs (especially Avast, Norton, etc.) may block Easy Anti-Cheat.

  • Add an exception for the folder:

    C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Fortnite
  • Or disable your antivirus temporarily, then try launching the game.


✅ 5. Reinstall Easy Anti-Cheat

If repair doesn’t work:

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator

  2. Type:

    sc delete EasyAntiCheat
  3. Then go back to the EAC folder and rerun EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe to reinstall it.


✅ 6. Check for Windows Updates & Restart

Make sure your Windows OS is updated:

  • Go to Settings → Windows Update

  • Install any available updates

  • Restart your PC.

Some games allow for repair functionality within the Easy Anti-Cheat setup. If available, select the “Repair” or “Repair Service” option.
