Discord Overlay Hotkey | How to Change the Hotkey

The default hotkey to toggle the Discord in-game overlay is **Shift + ** (the backtick key, which is usually to the left of the 1` key on a standard keyboard).

How to Change the Hotkey

You can easily change this to a different key combination if it conflicts with a game’s controls or if you simply prefer a different shortcut.

  1. Open Discord.
  2. Click on the User Settings gear icon in the bottom-left corner, next to your username.
  3. In the left-hand menu, scroll down to the “Activity Settings” section and click on Game Overlay.
  4. You will see a setting called “Toggle Overlay Lock“. The current hotkey is displayed there.
  5. Click on the hotkey box and press your desired new key combination.
  6. Click Stop Recording when you are finished. Your new hotkey will be saved.
