CSUN Spring Break 2023 : 2022/2023 Academic Calendar – CSUN

CSUN Spring Break 2023 : Starting 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14 through Monday, March 20, 2023, eligible new and continuing CSUN students may obtain the next available enrollment appointment on a first come, first served basis to later enroll in summer classes.

  • Registration-by-Appointment begins March 21 for CSUN students.
  • No appointment is required starting April 1 and beyond.
  • Visiting, non-matriculated students can enroll starting April 3.

There are three registration periods in the fall, spring and summer terms.

  • Registration-by-Appointment — By appointment only
  • Nonrestrictive Registration — No appointment necessary
  • Late Registration/Schedule Adjustment — Starts the first weekday of classes

What you can do in each period varies.

Eligible New and Continuing CSUN Students

Some things are changing for summer 2023. However, the steps to set your summer registration appointment and later enroll in summer classes are unchanged. All students may follow these steps to register for summer classes.

    1. Set your own appointment to register on a “first come, first served” basis starting 10 a.m. March 14 through March 20, 2023.
    2. Then enroll starting March 21 with Registration-by-Appointment period and after.
    3. You’ll find these dates and more in the Summer 2023 Registration Calendar.

For summer registration dates and policies, visit the website for your student group below:

  • Most CSUN students including the special year-round CSUN cohort program students and SPRINT students, you’ll be enrolling in state-support courses. Use the Summer Term Registration Calendar.
    • Permission numbers may be required to add special year-round cohort classes. Please ask your program advisor for assistance.
    • SPRINT students will be notified in April of the list of eligible classes and their eligibility to enroll. Eligibility in a previous year does not indicate eligibility in the current year.

Step 1

Go to the CSUN home page at www.csun.edu and:

  1. Open the MyCSUN menu in the top navigation.
  2. Select the CSUN Portal link.
  3. Log in with your CSUN user ID and password.

Step 2

Your CSUN Portal home page displays.

Eligible New and Continuing CSUN Students—Create your own appointment to register on a first-to-arrive basis.

  1. In My Checklist under Incomplete Tasks, look for any registration holds. They will block your enrollment, so resolve them as soon as possible.
  2. In the Top Tools area, select the Student Center backpack link.

Step 3

The Student Center page displays.

In the Academics section, select the Summer Appointment/Enrollment link.

Step 4

The Summer Enrollment (Appointment) page displays.

  • If the registration system recognizes you as an eligible CSUN student, your summer enrollment appointment will display. You may begin registering for summer classes on and after your appointment date and time.
  • If the system recognizes you as a visiting summer student, a notice will display directing you to return during the Nonrestrictive Registration period when no appointment is required.

When done, close the enrollment tab in your web browser. To return to the CSUN Portal, select its tab in your browser.

Step 5

When your registration appointment arrives and/or Nonrestrictive Registration begins, log back into the CSUN Portal.

  1. Navigate to the SOLAR Student Center again.
  2. Select the Summer Appt/Enrollment link in the Academics section.
  3. You might also see the Summer Appt/Enrollment link in the Registration section of your Portal Checklist.

Return as often as you like during the published registration periods.

Step 6

The Student Fee Payment Notice displays disclosures, financial responsibility acknowledgements, Form 1098-T information, and where to find your account charges and payment deadlines.* [Please note: The screen below is subject to change and, when updated, will be replaced here.]

To continue:

  1. If you haven’t already, select the “yes” or “no” checkbox for electronic delivery of your IRS Form 1098-T. The form helps you to determine your eligibility for an Education Tax Credit.
  2. Read the Statement of Financial Responsibility and other information.
  3. If you agree, select the button “I have read and understand the above statement.” (If not, return to the portal or the Student Center, or log out.)

Step 7

The Select Classes to Add page displays for summer term.

  1. Type the five-digit Class Number and select Enter.
    or
  2. Use Find Classes to look up available classes. Select Search.
  3. To return to the CSUN Portal, select its tab in your web browser (not shown).
  4. To exit Add Classes, close the tab in your web browser.
