CIBC App Not Working | Easy Fix

CIBC recently launched a brand-new CIBC US Mobile Banking app. The old app stopped functioning in late 2025. Make sure you haven’t accidentally kept the legacy version on your phone.

There are no major widespread outages reported for CIBC’s digital services, but the app has been known to be a bit “temperamental” lately due to recent updates and security changes.

Here is a quick checklist to get you back into your account:

1. Check for the “Double App” Confuse

If you are a US-based client, CIBC recently launched a brand-new CIBC US Mobile Banking app. The old app stopped functioning in late 2025. Make sure you haven’t accidentally kept the legacy version on your phone.

2. The “Private DNS/VPN” Fix (Common for Android/iPhone)

The CIBC app is notoriously sensitive to privacy settings. If the app is stuck on a loading screen or giving you a connection error:

  • Turn off your VPN: The app often blocks access if it detects a VPN.

  • Disable Private DNS: On Android, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Private DNS and set it to Automatic or Off.

  • Disable “Limit IP Address Tracking”: On iPhone, go to your Wi-Fi settings, tap the (i) next to your network, and toggle off “Limit IP Address Tracking” (or Private Relay) temporarily to see if it lets you log in.

3. Clear Cache & Storage (Android)

If the app keeps crashing immediately after opening:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > CIBC.

  • Select Storage & Cache.

  • Tap Clear Cache first. If that doesn’t work, try Clear Storage (you will need to sign in again).

4. Use the Mobile Site as a Backup

If you’re in a rush and the app just won’t cooperate, CIBC’s mobile-optimized website is usually more stable. Open your phone’s browser and go to cibc.com.

Quick Tip:

If you’re seeing a specific error code (like 6086), it usually means the device registration failed. Often, waiting 24 hours without trying to log in can “reset” the security flag on their end.
