Chick-fil-A Error 422 is a code that technically means “Unprocessable Entity.” In plain English, the Chick-fil-A server received your order request, but it cannot process it because some part of the data is invalid.
Based on recent user reports, this is almost always caused by a “Ghost Item” in your cart or a location mismatch.
Here is how to fix it:
1. The “Ghost Item” Fix (Most Likely)
This error usually happens when an item in your cart is out of stock at your specific location, but the app hasn’t properly updated the menu to tell you. It tries to order an item that doesn’t exist, causing the crash.
The Fix: Remove items from your cart one by one and try to check out after each removal. You will likely find one specific item (often a sauce, seasonal shake, or breakfast item near 10:30 AM) that is causing the error.
Alternative: Clear your entire cart and rebuild the order.
2. The Location Refresh
Sometimes the app thinks you are at a location that is currently closed or doesn’t serve the menu you are looking at (e.g., trying to order lunch during breakfast hours).
The Fix: Go to the “Find a Restaurant” map, switch your pickup location to a different Chick-fil-A, and then switch it back to your preferred store. This forces the app to re-download the correct menu and stock list for that store.

3. Payment Method Glitch
If the error pops up exactly when you hit “Place Order,” your saved payment token might have expired.
The Fix:
Delete your saved credit card and re-enter it.
If possible, use Apple Pay or Google Pay instead of a saved card; this bypasses the app’s internal card validation which often throws Error 422.
4. Tech Hygiene
If none of the above works:
Turn off Wi-Fi: Switch to mobile data. Sometimes public Wi-Fi networks block the specific security handshake the app needs.
Log Out/In: Go to Account > Sign Out, then sign back in.
