To check your IMEI status in Myanmar, you must use the newly launched Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. As of early March 2026, the government has made registration mandatory to link your device to your identity.
1. Official Status Check Portal
The primary tool for checking whether your phone is whitelisted is: 👉 https://www.ceir.gov.mm/check-status
-
Dial
*#06#on your phone to get your 15-digit IMEI. -
Enter the number on the portal to see if your device is marked as “Approved” or “Tax Required.”
2. Deadlines and “Automatic” Whitelisting
The government has provided a one-month window for existing devices to be registered without penalties.
-
Before March 31, 2026: If your phone currently has an active Myanmar SIM (MPT, ATOM, Ooredoo/U9, or Mytel) and is being used, it should be automatically whitelisted for free.
-
April 1, 2026, Onward: Any “new” device (not previously seen on the network) will only be allowed to work for a 30-day grace period. After that, it will be blocked unless you pay the required customs taxes (reportedly up to 35% of the device’s value).
3. Troubleshooting “Site Not Loading”
Since the portal was launched just this week, it is currently experiencing extremely high traffic, leading to the “white page” or DNS errors you might be seeing.
-
Try Off-Peak Hours: Access the site late at night or early in the morning (Myanmar Time).
-
Use the Call Center: If you cannot get the site to load, you can contact the official helpdesk during office hours:

Check via SIM: Many users are receiving SMS confirmations from their carriers once their device has been automatically added to the register. Keep an eye on your text messages.
