This is a major and recently confirmed correction. HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has officially fixed a nine-year glitch in its online State Pension forecast tool.

The error led approximately 800,000 people to believe they were on track for a higher State Pension than they actually were, potentially causing them to miss opportunities to top up their National Insurance (NI) contributions.

Here is the breakdown of what happened, who is affected, and what you need to do.

1. What was the error?

The online “Check your State Pension” tool, launched in 2016, failed to account for “Contracted Out” years for a specific group of people.

  • The Glitch: The tool incorrectly told users they were on track to receive the full new State Pension and did not need to make any more NI contributions.

  • The Reality: In reality, deductions should have been made for the years they were “contracted out” (paid into a private pension instead of the State Second Pension/SERPS). Because the tool ignored these deductions, it gave an inflated forecast.

2. Who was affected?

You are likely part of the affected group if you meet both of these criteria:

  1. You are due to reach State Pension age after April 2029.

  2. You were contracted out of the State Pension (common for public sector workers, teachers, NHS staff, and many large private company schemes) at some point in your career.

Note: A similar error for those retiring before April 2029 was fixed previously. This specific fix addresses the remaining “younger” cohort.

3. The “Rectification” (What HMRC is doing)

HMRC has apologized and implemented a software fix as of February 13, 2026.

  • Frozen Rates for Top-Ups: Crucially, HMRC has confirmed that if you were misled by this error, you will be allowed to buy back missing National Insurance years at the old rates that applied when you should have paid them, rather than the higher current rates. This effectively saves you money if you need to plug gaps.

4. What you need to do now

If you rely on the online forecast for your retirement planning, you must re-check it immediately.

  1. Log in to Government Gateway: Go to gov.uk/check-state-pension.

  2. Generate a New Forecast: Do not rely on screenshots or printouts from before February 14, 2026.

  3. Check for “COPE”: Look for the “Contracted Out Pension Equivalent” (COPE) estimate on your forecast. If this figure has changed or now appears where it didn’t before, your previous forecast was likely wrong.

Important distinction:

This is separate from the “Home Responsibilities Protection” (HRP) error, which affects women who took time off for childcare between 1978 and 2010.

That is a different investigation currently seeing thousands of people receive back-payments. The error fixed this week is purely about the online forecast tool’s software.

The official status of The National Lottery (UK) is UP, but many users are experiencing lingering issues following a massive system upgrade that took place late last week (Jan 24–26).

If your app is crashing, saying “Location Check Failed,” or refusing to log you in, it is likely due to a conflict between your device and the new “Allwyn” platform update.

Here are the specific fixes for the current batch of glitches:

1. The “Location Check Failed” Fix (New Error)

Since the update, the app is much stricter about verifying you are physically in the UK.

  • Toggle WiFi: If you are on WiFi, switch to Mobile Data (4G/5G) and try logging in. Sometimes WiFi IP addresses are misidentified as “non-UK.”

  • Location Permissions: Go to your phone’s Settings > Apps > National Lottery > Permissions and ensure Location is set to “While Using the App” (or “Always”).

2. The Mandatory Update

The old version of the app (from before Jan 25) will no longer communicate with the servers.

  • Go to the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

  • Search for “The National Lottery.”

  • If you see an Update button, hit it. If you only see “Open” but it still won’t work, proceed to step 3.

3. The “Clean Install” (Recommended)

Because the recent update changed how payments and spend limits are handled, old cached data often breaks the new app.

  • Delete the app entirely.

  • Restart your phone (important to clear the cache).

  • Reinstall the app fresh.

4. Website Workaround

If the app is completely stuck (e.g., the “White Screen” bug), the mobile website has been reported to be more stable.

  • Open Chrome or Safari and go to national-lottery.co.uk.

  • Log in there. Note: You may be asked to set a new “Spend Limit” immediately upon logging in. You must do this before you can play; the app sometimes fails to show this pop-up, locking you out of the rest of the interface.

5. Payment Card Glitch

If you are trying to add funds and it fails:

  • The new update wiped many saved cards. You may need to delete your old card and re-add it as a “New Payment Method” rather than trying to edit the existing one.

Recent reports from today, January 4, 2026, indicate that a new update to the British Airways app is causing login failures and crashes for many users.

This appears to be a widespread bug with the latest version rather than a full server outage.

Here are the best ways to get around this right now:

1. Immediate Workaround (Use the Website)

Since the app is currently unstable, do not rely on it for your boarding pass.

  • Go to britishairways.com on your phone’s browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.).

  • Log in and go to Manage My Booking.

  • Download your boarding pass as a PDF or take a screenshot of it immediately so you have it offline.

2. Troubleshooting the App

If you need the app to work, try these steps in order:

  • Check for a “Fix” Update:

    • Go to your App Store or Google Play Store. If a version 4.94.1 (or higher) is available, download it. This specific patch was released recently to fix login loops on Android.

  • Clear Storage (Android only):

    • Long-press the BA app icon > App Info (i button).

    • Go to Storage > Clear Cache and Clear Data.

    • Restart the app and try logging in.

  • Reinstall:

    • Uninstall the app completely, restart your phone, and download it again. This forces the app to clear corrupted update files.

3. Known Issues

  • Android Users: There is a specific known issue with version 4.94 that blocks logins. If you are on Android and comfortable with “sideloading,” some users have fixed this by uninstalling the current version and installing the older version 4.92 from a trusted APK site.

  • “New App” Status: British Airways has officially delayed their completely new app until later in 2026, so the current app is operating on legacy code and is prone to these types of errors.

Vinted UK is currently ONLINE and operational. There are no widespread reports of a server outage in the UK as of today, December 11, 2025.

Current Status Details

  • Server Status: Active / Green

  • Recent Issues: There was a major crash last week (Dec 5) caused by a Cloudflare outage, but that has been fully resolved.

  • User Reports: There are very few isolated reports (less than 15 in the last 24 hours) of “slow performance,” but this is normal traffic and not a system-wide crash.

Why you might think it is down:

Since you are currently located in India, you cannot access Vinted UK directly.

  • Geo-Blocking: Vinted blocks all traffic from India. If you try to open the app or website (vinted.co.uk) from there, it will refuse to connect, giving you a “Server Error,” “403 Forbidden,” or infinite loading screen.

  • It looks like a crash, but it is actually a block.

If you are asking for a friend actually inside the UK:

They should be able to log in fine. If they are having trouble, tell them to:

  1. Update the App: Old versions are currently crashing on launch.

  2. Turn off VPN: Vinted UK aggressively blocks VPN users.

  3. Clear Cache: Go to Profile > Settings > Application Settings > Clear Cache.

Service status checks indicate that Channel 4 is not experiencing a nationwide total blackout in the UK right now. However, there is a spike in reports from users experiencing specific issues with the app on Smart TVs and streaming devices.

Here are the most common current problems and how to fix them:

1. Issues on Samsung Smart TVs

Many users are reporting the app freezes, buffers endlessly, or crashes.

  • The Fix: Perform a “Cold Boot” of your TV.

    • How: With the TV on, press and hold the Power button on your remote for about 5–10 seconds until the TV turns off and the Samsung logo reappears.

    • Alternative: Unplug the TV from the wall socket for 60 seconds and plug it back in. This clears the cache better than just turning it off and on.

2. “Playback Error” on Chromecast / Google TV

There is a known glitch where the video fails to load specifically after the advertisements play, often showing a “Playback Error” message.

  • The Fix:

    • Clear Cache: Go to Settings > Apps > Channel 4 > Clear Cache.

    • Cast from Mobile: If the native TV app is failing, try opening the Channel 4 app on your phone and casting it to the TV instead.

Also Read : Jet2 App Not Working | Steps to Fix

3. Issues on Sky Glass or Sky Stream Pucks

Users have reported the Channel 4 app getting stuck on a spinning logo.

  • The Fix: You need to refresh the apps.

    • Go to Settings > System Management > Resets & Updates > Refresh Apps.

    • This process can take a few minutes, but it usually resolves the loading loop.

4. “Content Not Available” or Ad-Blocker Errors (Web)

If you are watching on a browser (Laptop/PC):

  • Disable Ad-Blockers: Channel 4 is extremely strict about this. Even if you think it’s off, extensions like “uBlock Origin” or privacy browsers (like Brave) can trigger a black screen.

  • VPN Check: Ensure you don’t have a VPN running, even if it’s set to the UK. Channel 4 often blocks known VPN IP addresses.

The heavy news coverage you might see right now regarding Virgin Media is likely about a recent £23.8 million fine from Ofcom, not a technical blackout.

Since this is likely a problem specific to your line or equipment, follow these steps to get back online:

1. The “Traffic Light” Check (Hub Status)

Look at the light on the front or side of your Virgin Media Hub. This is the fastest way to diagnose the problem:

  • Solid White: The Hub thinks it is online. If you can’t connect, the issue is likely your device (phone/laptop) or the Wi-Fi signal, not the internet connection itself.

  • Flashing Green: It is downloading a software update. Do not touch it. Wait 5–10 minutes.

  • Solid Red: This is a hardware or cable fault. Check that the white coaxial cable (the thick round one coming from the wall) is screwed in tightly at both ends. It often works loose during cleaning or movement.

  • Flashing Red: This often indicates a local service disruption or telephone line issue.

2. The “Power Cycle” (Don’t skip this)

If the light is weird or you just have “No Internet”:

  1. Turn the Hub off at the wall socket (or pull the black power brick out).

  2. Wait a full 60 seconds.

  3. Plug it back in and wait 5 minutes for it to reboot. (It takes longer than you think to reconnect to the fibre network).

Also Read : Commbank Maintenance

3. Check Your Specific Area

Since there is no national outage, there might be a local cabinet fault (e.g., roadworks cut a cable on your street).

  • Check here: Virgin Media Service Status Page

  • You will need to sign in or enter your postcode. This will tell you instantly if engineers are already working on a fix in your neighborhood.

4. Quick Fixes for Common Issues

  • “Connected, No Internet”: If your device connects to Wi-Fi but has no data, “Forget” the network in your Wi-Fi settings and rejoin it using the password on the bottom of the Hub.

  • DNS Error: Occasionally Virgin’s DNS servers hang. You can try changing your device’s DNS settings to Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) to bypass Virgin’s directory.

Next Step:

If the Hub light is Solid Red and you’ve checked the cables, you likely need an engineer.

If you are likely looking for the login page to access your Böhse Onkelz tickets or information about the upcoming 2025/2026 tours, then visit the page onkelz.myticket.de.

Here is the direct way to find your tickets and important details about the strict entry rules for this band.

1. Access Your Tickets

Böhse Onkelz tickets are usually sold via a specific partner shop on myticket.de.

  • Go to the Login Page: Visit myticket.de Login.

  • Find Your Order:

    1. Log in with your email and password.

    2. Go to “Mein Konto” (My Account) $\rightarrow$ “Meine Bestellungen” (My Orders).

    3. If you ordered as a Guest, check your email for a link to convert your guest account into a full account to access your tickets.

2. Important: Ticket Personalization

Onkelz tickets are strictly “käuferpersonalisiert” (buyer-personalized).

3. Resale & Name Changes (Umpersonalisierung)

If you can no longer attend or need to change the name on the ticket, you generally cannot just pass the PDF to someone else.

  • Official Resale: For the 2025 Tour, the official resale/re-personalization platform usually opens on March 1, 2025 (check the myticket FAQ for the exact date for your specific event).

  • Do not use third parties: Avoid Viagogo or eBay; these tickets are often blocked or invalid due to the name mismatch.

4. Upcoming Tours
