Whichever card you choose, you’ll collect Avios with every £1 you spend on eligible purchases. Avios is the reward currency of the British Airways Executive Club. Avios can help you design your dream getaway by spending them on flights, cabin upgrades, hotel stays, car hire and more.
With two cards to choose from, it’s even easier to get closer to the people and places that matter most with your everyday spending. You could even collect a welcome bonus to kick start your travel plans and a cabin upgrade voucher (T&Cs apply).
And if you don’t have a British Airways Executive Club account, we’ll set one up for you when you apply for your chosen Barclaycard Avios card. We’ll transfer the Avios you collect with us to that account. You can use the Barclays app5 to watch your rewards grow.

If you’re already logged in to online servicing, just go to ‘Activate your new Barclaycard’ and follow the simple steps.
While you’re setting things up, you’ll be able to add additional card holders, view your new PIN, make a balance transfer and personalise your account settings. You can also tell us how you’d like to receive any credit limit increases in the future.
If you change from your existing Barclaycard to one of our Barclaycard Avios cards, the welcome bonus is
- Barclaycard Avios card – 1,000 Avios when you spend at least £1,000 within three months of receiving the card
- Barclaycard Avios Plus card – 5,000 Avios if you spend at least £3,000 within three months of receiving your card
You can use the Barclays or Barclaycard app to check if you’re eligible to change to a different card – like one of our Barclaycard Avios cards. Log in to your app, open ‘Cards’ from the home page and select ‘Change to a different card’.
You can only collect the welcome bonus once, so you won’t be eligible for it if you switch from one of these cards to the other. If you don’t hit the spending target in time, you won’t receive the welcome bonus. You can check how close you are to the target and how long you have left to hit it in the Barclaycard Avios section of your Barclays app.

Where can I check my Avios balance?
You can check your total Avios balance in the Barclays or Barclaycard app, and see how many Avios you’ve collected with us. You can also check your total balance in your British Airways Executive Club account.
