To activate your new Australia Post Gift Card, go to gift.card.auspost/activate and enter the ten-digit number on the back of your card. Now click on Next button.

Any Australia Post Gift Card (auspost.com.au/giftcards) by Mastercard purchased in-store will be automatically activated and ready to use immediately. Any Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard purchased online will not be active to ensure they can be securely delivered.

You’ll know your card needs to be activated if there’s an activation sticker on the front. The person who gifted you the card should provide you with the activation code (they’ll have chosen the code at the time of purchase).

If an activation code hasn’t been given to you, please contact the person who gifted you the card.

If you’re having trouble registering your card and need to check your balance, please call Gift Card Customer Support on 1800 549 718 (select option 1) between 9am and 9pm Monday to Friday AEST (excluding national public holidays).

How do I use my Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard®?

When making online and over the phone purchases with your Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard®:

  • Enter the 16-digit card number and expiry date on the front of the card.
  • If you’re asked for the CVV number, this is the 3-digit number on the back of your card in the signature panel
  • If you’re asked for a cardholder name, enter “Gift Cardholder”

The Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard® cannot be used with a merchant for future or recurring transactions.

When making in-store purchases with your Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard®:

  • Sign the back of your card
  • Swipe your card and select CR (credit)
  • Enter the PIN located under the scratch panel on the back of your Gift Card
  • Each time you use your card the purchase amount is automatically deducted from your card balance

Your 4-digit PIN number for your Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard® can be located on the back of your card under the scratch panel. This PIN will be required when you make a purchase in-store.

Your Card ID is the 10-digit number on the back of your card. You will need this number to register and log in to My Account so that you can check your balance and transaction history.

What should I do if I don’t remember/have the activation code for my Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard®?

Your activation code is included in the order confirmation email sent after the card was purchased online.

If you can’t find the email or you’ve forgotten the activation code, visit the activation page and click the ‘Don’t have your activation code?’ button. Enter a few details about your purchase and then we’ll email you the activation code.

If you were gifted the card without an activation code, please contact the person who gifted it to you.

Where is my Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard® accepted?

The Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard® can be used for purchasing goods and services where Mastercard® prepaid cards are accepted for electronic transactions (excluding transactions at ATMs or over the counter at financial institutions).

Authorisations may be declined at some merchants (such as gambling merchants or merchants who choose not to accept Mastercard® prepaid cards). We are not liable in any way when authorisation is declined for any particular transaction except where the authorisation has been declined because of an act or omission on our part.

Are there any countries where my Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard® won’t work?

It is currently not possible to use your Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard® in some countries. In-store transactions will be declined in the following countries: ​

  • Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, Crimea, Angola, Ghana, Brazil, Jordan, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, and Kenya.

Online or over the phone transactions will be declined in the following countries:

  • Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, Crimea, Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Malaysia, Nigeria.

Additionally all Mastercards will not work at Russian merchants or ATM’s
