ARC Raiders ARAU0297 Error | Online Services Unavailable Fix

In ARC Raiders, the error code ARAU0297 indicates an “Online Services Unavailable” or general connection failure. It means your client cannot communicate with Embark Studios’ servers to authenticate your login.

This has been a common issue since recent playtests and launches. Below are the known fixes, ordered from the most successful to the least.

1. Sync Your System Time (Most Common Fix)

The game’s anti-cheat and authentication servers often block connections if your PC or console’s internal clock does not match the server time perfectly.

  • On Windows:

    1. Right-click the time in the bottom-right corner of your taskbar.

    2. Select Adjust date and time.

    3. Ensure “Set time automatically” and “Set time zone automatically” are both turned ON.

    4. Click the “Sync now” button (this is crucial).

    5. Restart the game.

2. Flush DNS & Reset Winsock (PC)

Corrupted network cache often triggers this error.

  1. Open the Start menu, type cmd, right-click Command Prompt, and choose Run as administrator.

  2. Type the following commands one by one, pressing Enter after each:

    • ipconfig /flushdns

    • ipconfig /release

    • ipconfig /renew

    • netsh winsock reset

  3. Restart your computer.

3. Change DNS Settings

Your ISP’s default DNS might be failing to resolve the game server address.

  • PC: Go to Network Connections > Properties > IPv4 > Properties.

  • PS5/Xbox: Go to Network Settings > Set Up Internet Connection > Advanced Settings > DNS Settings (Manual).

  • Set the DNS to:

    • Primary: 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare)

    • Secondary: 8.8.4.4 (Google) or 1.0.0.1 (Cloudflare)

4. Verify Game Files

  • Steam: Right-click ARC Raiders in your library > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.

  • Epic Games: Click the three dots next to the game > Manage > Verify.

5. Check for “Shadow” IP Bans

Community reports suggest that Embark’s servers may temporarily “soft ban” or block specific IP addresses (especially if you are on a shared network or CGNAT).

  • The Fix: Turn off your router/modem and leave it unplugged for at least 5-10 minutes. This often forces your ISP to assign you a new public IP address when you turn it back on.

  • Test: If possible, try connecting to a mobile hotspot temporarily. If the game works on the hotspot but not your home Wi-Fi, the issue is definitely your home IP address.

Summary of Quick Checks

  • Disable VPNs: The game actively blocks many VPN connections.

  • Check Server Status: Verify the official ARC Raiders Discord or Twitter to ensure servers aren’t currently down for maintenance.
