Andy Cohen has one qualm about his New Year’s Eve performance

Cohen “really regrets” his on-air rebuke of the Ryan Seacrest countdown to the new year.

Although his tirade against New York City’s outgoing mayor, Bill de Blasio, garnered the most attention during his appearance on CNN’s “New Years Eve Live” special on Friday (31.12.21), the 53-year-old star of “Watch What Happens Live” admitted that the only thing he wishes he hadn’t done was launch a barrage of negative remarks about ABC’s rival programme, “Dick Clary.”

In an interview on his SiriusXM show, he said: “One thing I’m sorry I said: I slammed the ABC broadcast, and Ryan Seacrest is a great guy who I admire. It was an error of judgement on my part, and I sincerely apologise for what I said.”

Andy lambasted the “group of losers” on ABC’s show, which included Journey, Ashanti, and Ja Rule, during the broadcast.

“Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers performing behind us is putting out a lot of smoke,” he exclaimed. If you’ve been watching ABC tonight, you’ve seen nothing, to the best of my knowledge. I’m sincerely sorry for the inconvenience. Exactly.

A spoof of Journey was playing on ABC, and I was doused in confetti as a result.” Steve Perry has to be involved in order for something to be considered worthy of recognition. Is that clear? This isn’t Journey at all! It’s a smear campaign! It’s a smear campaign! The band Journey has nothing to do with this. The name isn’t Journey. That wasn’t Journey, I assure you. Steve Perry is the lead singer of the band Journey. No!”
