
There are a few ways to activate your Amex card in Australia. Go to amex.com.au/activate and
follow the prompts and provide the requested information.
1. Online:
- The easiest way is to visit the Amex activation website: amex.com.au/activate
- Follow the prompts and provide the requested information.
2. Amex App:
- Download the American Express app on your smartphone.
- Open the app and follow the instructions to activate your card.
3. Phone:
- Call the number on the back of your card.
- Follow the automated prompts to activate your card.
Additional Notes:
- You may be asked to create an online account during the activation process. This allows you to manage your card, pay bills, and track your spending
- If you’re an additional cardholder, you may need the primary cardholder’s date of birth to activate your card
Once you’ve activated your card, you can start using it immediately
How do I register for an Online Account?
Once you receive your new Card, you can click here to register for an Online Account and activate your Card. You will need your Card details and date of birth handy.
If you’re linking a new Card to an existing Online Account, you’ll need to have your existing User ID and Password ready to enter when prompted. Remember, you’ll only be able to link Cards that are in the same name.
If you’re a new Additional Cardmember, you’ll need to have the Primary Cardmember’s date of birth ready to enter, along with your own details. However, only you will be able to access your Card information through your Online Account.
When would I temporarily block my Card?
If you can’t find your Card, you can temporarily block it to help protect your account and give yourself peace of mind while you look for it. Once you find it, unblocking is quick and easy. If you don’t find it, you can always contact us by calling the number of the back of your Card and get it replaced. If you think fraudulent activity may have occurred on your Card, please contact us immediately.
