American Health Benefits Card Login Flex Card

American Benefits Group wants to make you aware of legislation effective April 1, 2013, that impacts your myFlexResource Benefits Card.

The Durbin Amendment (Section 1075) to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act requires that consumers have two methods of accessing their accounts when using a benefits debit card. As a result, starting in April 2013 you will have the option of using a Personal Identification Number (PIN), or continuing to sign for qualified purchases when using your myFlexResource Benefits Card.

With The ABG Benefits Card You Have The Following Benefits:

  • Convenience, no more claim forms to file—use your card and pay your provider directly, the funds will be instantly deducted from your reimbursement account
  • Multi Purse Feature—all of your reimbursement accounts may be accessed with the swipe of one debit card (check with your employer)
  • Auto Substantiation—in certain cases because of the presence of an *IIAS (Inventory Information Approval System) you will not be required to provide any additional documentation or receipts after you use your debit card.
  • Transit Compliant—when the card is used for transit expenses it is “terminal-restricted” and can only be used where a transit system’s fare can be purchased.

Card Reminders

Always keep your receipt–it is an IRS requirement!

Never use your card to pay for an expense that was incurred (the service was provided) in a previous plan year!

WealthCare Portal

To view/retrieve your PIN electronically through the WealthCare Portal, log into your account and navigate to the Card Status page. Each benefit card associated with the account will now have a “View PIN” link added to the page.

Clicking this link will open a pop-up window that displays the PIN for that benefit card (the pop-up window will not open if the pop-up blockers are enabled and no exception has been entered for the WealthCare Portal).

You can access the WealthCare Portal at Once you’ve retrieved your PIN, you can select Debit at the point of purchase and enter your PIN on the keypad when prompted.

Keep your Receipts! This is an IRS Requirement!

Documentation Required

You may have to submit documentation (receipts/statements and/or EOB’s) for transactions from some merchants, and not from others. Generally transactions done at pharmacies will be automatically substantiated at the point of sale using an Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS). Others, including health care providers do not have this capability, in which case you may receive Card Transaction Information Requests.

If you receive one of these requests you will need to send American Benefits Group the following information to substantiate the transaction(s).

  • The name of the provider or vendor
  • The name of the participant or dependent the service was for
  • The service(s) or purchased item(s)
  • The service date – must be within the current plan year
  • The dollar amount of the transaction
  • If you have a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) that is linked to your group health plan, we will need a copy of the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your health insurance company.

Note: credit card receipts and cancelled checks are not eligible forms of substantiation.

How to Submit Your Documentation

Typically you have 45 days to submit the requested documentation, if documentation is not received your transactions will become ineligible and your ABG Benefits Card will be temporarily suspended.
