Activate New Prepaid Account | T Mobile
To activate your new T-Mobile prepaid account, Visit prepaid.t-mobile.com on your computer or smartphone. Select “Bring Your Own Device” if you already have a phone, or choose to buy a new one if needed.
To activate your new T-Mobile prepaid account, you can choose from a few different methods:
1. Online (Recommended)
- Go to the T-Mobile Prepaid Activation website: Visit prepaid.t-mobile.com on your computer or smartphone.
- Choose your device: Select “Bring Your Own Device” if you already have a phone, or choose to buy a new one if needed.
- Enter your ZIP code: This helps determine the best available plans and services in your area.
- Check IMEI (optional): Enter your phone’s IMEI number (dial *#06# to find it) to ensure compatibility with the T-Mobile network. You can skip this step if you prefer.
- Get a SIM card: If you need a SIM card, you can order one online or choose to have one shipped to you. If you have a T-Mobile SIM card that has never been used, you can select that option.
- Choose a plan: Select the prepaid plan that best suits your needs and budget
- Create an account: Provide the necessary information to set up your new T-Mobile account
- Complete the activation: Follow the on-screen instructions to finalize your activation and start using your service
2. In-Store
- Visit a T-Mobile store: Find a T-Mobile store near you and bring your phone and a valid ID.
- Speak to a representative: A T-Mobile representative will assist you with choosing a plan, activating your SIM card, and setting up your account.
3. Over the Phone
- Call T-Mobile customer service: Dial 611 from your T-Mobile phone or 1-800-T-MOBILE (1-800-866-2453) from any other phone.
- Follow the prompts: Select the option for prepaid activation and provide the necessary information to the customer service representative.

Important Notes:
- eSIM Activation: If your device supports eSIM, you can activate your service online without a physical SIM card. Follow the instructions on the T-Mobile website for eSIM activation.
- Transferring Your Number: If you want to keep your existing phone number, you can port it to your new T-Mobile prepaid account during the activation process.
- Contact T-Mobile Support: If you encounter any issues or have questions during the activation process, don’t hesitate to contact T-Mobile customer support for assistance.
I upgraded or replaced a device
With the device off, open the SIM card tray and insert the SIM card.
- If your device didn’t come with a SIM card, just move the SIM from your old device to your new one and you’re good to go, no additional steps required.
- Activate the SIM card. For the best 5G experience, we don’t recommend using your previous SIM card.
Turn the device on. Your service should be working.
- If you’re bringing your own device and data isn’t working, add T-Mobile’s APN settings.

Create your T-Mobile ID
T-Mobile app
- Open the T-Mobile app.
- On the Welcome screen, tap Get a T-Mobile ID.
- Enter your registration information and tap Sign me up.
- Enter the code from the text message we sent to your mobile device and tap Next.. Note, if registering from your mobile device, the app may automatically confirm your phone number.
- Follow the on-screen steps to complete your registration.
