To activate your USAA credit card, you need to call the phone number on the back of your card, log in to your USAA account, or use the USAA mobile app to confirm your details and set up a PIN.
How to activate your USAA credit card
1) Via the USAA mobile app (fastest for many)
Open the USAA app on your phone and sign in.
Tap Accounts (or Cards) and select your credit card account.
Look for Activate Card, Manage Card, or a banner that says Activate and follow the prompts.
You may be asked to confirm identity (last 4 of SSN, DOB, or a one‑time code). After confirmation the card will be active.
2) Online through USAA.com
Sign in to your USAA account at usaa.com.
Go to Accounts → select your credit card.
Find Activate Card or Manage Card and follow the on‑screen steps.
Provide any requested verification (card number, last 4 of SSN, ZIP, etc.).
3) By phone – 800-411-4300
Call the number printed on the sticker attached to your new card or the phone number on the back of the card (once you have it).
If you don’t have the card in hand or prefer member service, call USAA member services phone number listed on your statement or on usaa.com (do not rely on numbers from unofficial sources).
Be ready with identity info (member number or last 4 SSN, DOB, card number or last 4 digits).

Suggested short phone script
“Hi — I’m a USAA member and I’d like to activate a new credit card. My name is [Full name], member number is [member #] (or last 4 SSN: ####). The card’s last four digits are ####. Can you activate it for me, please?”
If activation fails — quick fixes
Make sure you typed the card number, ZIP, or DOB exactly.
Try a different browser or the mobile app (sometimes one method works when another doesn’t).
Clear browser cache / try an incognito/private window.
If it’s a phone activation, ensure you’re calling the correct USAA number from an official source (statement, usaa.com).
If the card shows expired/invalid, contact USAA support — the card may be blocked, mismatched, or flagged for fraud prevention.
Wait a short time (15–30 minutes) and try again — sometimes new-card provisioning takes a little time.
Security & tips
Only activate via official USAA channels (usaa.com, USAA app, phone number on your statement/back of card).
Never give your full SSN, online banking password, or card CVV to anyone who calls you unsolicited. USAA will ask verifying questions but be cautious with unexpected contact.
If you suspect fraud or lose the card, report it immediately via the USAA app or the official contact number to block the card.
