Following the merger of Sprint and T-Mobile, the process for activating a new phone on the former Sprint network has been fully integrated into T-Mobile’s systems.
The old “Sprint activation code” is no longer used in the traditional sense for new activations.
Instead, the activation process now typically involves a SIM card number (ICCID) or a QR code for an eSIM.
β Sprint Activation Code (Dial Code)
To activate a Sprint phone, the standard code is:
π Dial ##72786#
(Read as: PWR β ##SCRTN#)
This code resets the network settings and triggers the device to re-download carrier settings, which includes:
PRL (Preferred Roaming List)
Network settings
Activates the SIM/profile with the Sprint network
π Steps to Use It
Open the Phone/Dialer app on your Sprint phone.
Dial
##72786#Tap call/send.
The phone may restart.
It will begin activation (hands-free) automatically if it’s a Sprint-locked phone.
β οΈ Important: This code only works on Sprint-locked CDMA phones, not on GSM-unlocked or BYOD phones.

Important Notes
T-Mobile is the new hub: All new phone activations, support requests, and account management for former Sprint customers now go through T-Mobile’s systems, website, and app.
SIM-locked phones: If you are trying to activate a phone that was locked to the Sprint network, you may need to ensure it is unlocked before it can be used on the T-Mobile network. T-Mobile has specific policies regarding unlocking devices.
