DVA Card Activation Online : How to Set Up DVA?

To activate and manage your DVA (Department of Veterans’ Affairs) card online, you’ll use MyService via myGov. You’ll need an activation code, which you can get via Clicking Register now.

1. Set Up Your myGov Account & Link DVA

  1. Sign in (or create) at my.gov.au.

  2. Go to View and link services.

  3. Click Link next to Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

  4. You’ll need an activation code, which you can get via:

    • Clicking Register now (if new to DVA)

    • Calling 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372)

    • Visiting a Veterans’ Access Network or Services Australia centre.

  5. Enter the activation code + your date of birth → Submit to link your account.


2. For First-Time Users: Register with DVA via MyService

If you’re brand new to DVA:

  1. In myGov, under DVA, choose Register Now.

  2. Select your status (serving, ex-serving, never served).

  3. Provide personal and service info (PMKeyS/service number/DVA client number) and proof-of-identity documents.

  4. Wait for your activation code via email (usually within 24 hrs).

  5. Enter the code and your date of birth to complete the link.

3. Access & Activate Your DVA Card

Once linked:

Via MyService (web):

  • Sign in through myGov → View linked services → DVA.

  • Navigate to Cards to view your digital Veteran Gold or White Card.

Via myGov app (mobile):

  1. Open the myGov app.

  2. Go to Wallet on the home screen.

  3. Tap +, select Veteran Card, and consent to add it.

  4. The card is now accessible and securely stored—with QR code and hologram verification.
