To login into New York State Department of Labor, go to http://on.ny.gov/idme enter the email address you can access and passwords given at the time of registration.

The New York State DOL has partnered with ID.me to create a secure identity verification process that ensures you, and only you, will be able to access your unemployment benefits. In just a few short steps, you’ll create your ID.me login, secure your account, and verify your identity.

If NYS DOL reached out to you to verify your identity:

• Visit the website referenced in the message and click the green “Verify With ID.me” button.

• You will be directed to a webpage where you can sign in with your existing ID.me account or create a new one.

• Verify using the instructions below. Once complete, your PUA or UI claim will be processed in 10-14 days.

To verify your identity:

1. Visit the website mentioned in the message, then click the green “Verify with ID.me” button to begin the identity verification process

2. You will be directed to the ID.me sign-in page. You can sign in to your existing ID.me account, or create a new one. Please make sure you use the same email address that you used when registering with the NYS DOL.

3. Confirm your email address
4. Select a multi-factor authentication option.
5. Verify your identity. Select Driver’s license or state ID, Passport, or Passport card to upload. You can take a photo with your mobile device or upload from your computer.
6. If you chose to take a photo with your device, follow the onscreen prompts. You’ll be asked to input your phone number. 7. When prompted, take and submit a selfie.
8. Enter all other requested information, including your Social Security number.
9. Review and confirm to make sure all your information is accurate. Then click “Continue” at the bottom of the screen. After ID.me verifies your identity, you will receive a confirmation text message as a way to protect you from fraud. To learn more about this text message, click here.
10. At the end of the process, be sure to click “Allow and continue.” This step shares your identity information with the NYS DOL.

Note: If you verified your identity with a Trusted Referee:

  1. Return to the NYS DOL site
  2. Log in to your NYS DOL account
  3. Provide your ID.me credentials when prompted
  4. Follow the steps for NYS DOL, then click to Allow them to use your verified identity information.
