Error code 057 is most commonly encountered on credit card POS devices and means “Transaction not permitted to cardholder”. This error doesn’t mean the device is faulty; the problem is entirely related to the card being used.
1. POS Device / Credit Card Error
Your bank rejected the transaction due to security or authorization restrictions, even though there was money in your account.
Possible causes:
Transaction Restriction: Your card may be blocked for online shopping (e-commerce), international use, or mail order transactions.
Incorrect Transaction Type: You will receive this error if you are using a “Debit Card” instead of a credit card and trying to make a payment in installments.
Blocked: The bank may have suspected something suspicious and blocked the card against this merchant.
Solution:
Call Customer Service: You cannot fix this problem through the POS device. The cardholder needs to call their bank to have the transaction restriction lifted.
Try a different card: The quickest solution at that moment is to try a card from a different bank.

2. Brother Printer Error
If you see this code on a printer screen:
Meaning: Paper jam in the duplex (double-sided printing) unit.
Solution: Open the back cover of the printer and remove the jammed paper.
