AMD Error 207 | AMD Software Installation Completed Successfully

AMD Error 207 officially means: “AMD Software Installation Completed Successfully but Windows Detected a Potential Issue with Your Graphics Device.”

In simple terms: The AMD installer did its job, but Windows has “disabled” your graphics card in the background, usually because of a conflict with Windows Update.

Here is the quick fix that works for 90% of users:

1. The “Enable Device” Fix (Try this first)

This is often just a toggle that got switched off.

  1. Open your Start Menu, type “Device Manager”, and hit Enter.

  2. Expand the “Display adapters” section.

  3. Right-click your AMD Radeon card.

  4. If you see an option that says “Enable device”, click it.

    • If it is already enabled, it might have a yellow warning triangle. Right-click and choose “Uninstall device” (do not check the box to delete drivers), then restart your PC.

  5. Restart your computer. The AMD software should now open correctly.

2. The “Clean Install” Fix (If step 1 fails)

If enabling the device didn’t work, you have a corrupted driver file. You need to wipe it clean.

  1. Download the AMD Cleanup Utility (or use DDU if you are comfortable with it).

  2. Run it to remove all old driver files (your screen will flicker or resolution will drop; this is normal).

  3. Restart your PC.

  4. Download the latest driver again from the AMD website and install it.

Crucial Step:

When installing, look for a checkbox or dropdown that says “Factory Reset” (often under “Additional Options”). Check this to ensure no old settings survive.
