The ability to put power (which would have to be focused except for very low power applications) some place at least a few hundred, but ideally several thousand feet or multiple miles would permit sharply reducing battery weight in moving vehicles and getting power to places like islands and mountain tops that are very expensive to wire. For the military an drone airplane powered by beamed power would be able to stay on station for weeks, watching enemy forces. A remote vehicle for offense or for fire fighting or rescue could be much smaller. Being able to cut off wired power in a disaster or major fire would make rescue much safer while wireless power transmitted to a hospital or command trailer would permit more functions.
