Insurance Broker System

 

Abstract

This project is a computer system that will be used in an Insurance Brokers' office. The system is split into two parts. The first part of the program is the In-House Broker System (IHBS), which is to be used by the staff. The second part is the On-Line Quote System (OLQS), which can be used by anybody on-line. The OLQS enables clients or potential clients to instantly obtain motor or household quotes on-line. The product enables the client to automatically receive the quote on-line. The client fills out the quote and, upon completion, they can purchase the quote using a credit card, they can reject the quote, or they can save the quote so they can come back to it later, in which case the quote is recalculated.

The IHBS will be used by the employees to add new clients, and to manage existing clients, take quotes (motor/household), manage the accounts and generate reports/letters for all departments. Letters are automatically filled out using the mail merge feature in Word, and reports are automatically formatted in Access. The reports have basic calculations done. Behind this system, there is a MSSQL Database running on a MMSQL Server.

The project has been planned to be having the view of distributed architecture, with centralized storage of the database. The application for the storage of the data has been planned. Using the constructs of MS-SQLServer and all the user interfaces have been designed using the ASP.Net technologies. The database connectivity is planned using the "SQL Connection" methodology. The standards of security and data protective mechanism have been given a big choice for proper usage. The application takes care of different modules and their associated reports which are produced as per the applicable strategies and standards that are put forwarded by the administrative staff
