The multichannel infrared remote was designed to operate the Multi-Mask Imager, a four-way masking screen. The remote involves three low-voltage control units, which provide up, down and stop operation for the three masks. It comes with one remote transmitter and three three-button wall switches.

The MCIR also allows a person to use a multi-purpose/functional IR remote with the Multi-Mask Imager, such as a Pronto remote.
